The Northern Goshawk, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Ruffed Grouse, Great Gray Owl, Black-backed Woodpecker, Black-billed Magpie, Gray Jay, and Boreal Chickadee are just a few of the permanent residents found year round in the bog. Birds to look for in the winter months include Northern Goshawk, Northern Hawk Owl, Great Gray Owl, American Three-toed Woodpecker, Black-backed Woodpecker, Northern Shrike, Gray Jay, Black-billed Magpie, Bohemian Waxwing, Snow Bunting, Pine Grosbeak, Purple Finch, Red Crossbill, White-winged Crossbill, Common Redpoll, Hoary Redpoll, Pine Siskin and Evening Grosbeak. Some notable species breeding here in the summer months are Yellow Rail, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Alder Flycatcher, Blue-headed Vireo, Sedge Wren, Golden-winged Warbler, Connecticut Warbler, Mourning Warbler, Canada Warbler and Le Conte’s Sparrow.
